Sydney-based insurtech company Upcover has unveiled a new professional indemnity and public liability insurance product tailored specifically for nurses across Australia.
This initiative aims to provide comprehensive coverage that meets the unique needs of nursing professionals, including nurse practitioners, in-patient nurses, doulas, and nursing students.

The insurance offering includes coverage limits of up to $20 million and encompasses a wide range of scenarios pertinent to the nursing profession. These include protection against claims arising from IV infusions, cosmetic injectables, respite care services, physical injury, errors of judgment, negligence, defamation, and breaches of privacy legislation due to the loss of personal information.

One of the standout features of this product is its alignment with the requirements set by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). This ensures that nurses can obtain the necessary insurance coverage to comply with regulatory standards seamlessly.

Upcover's CEO and co-founder, Skye Theodorou, highlighted that the new product targets Australia's 350,000-strong nursing workforce and is designed to meet the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's requirements. The introduction of this tailored insurance solution reflects Upcover's commitment to addressing the specific needs of healthcare professionals and providing them with accessible and comprehensive coverage options.

For nurses seeking insurance that caters specifically to their professional activities and regulatory obligations, Upcover's new offering presents a potentially valuable option. The availability of monthly payment plans further enhances the accessibility and affordability of this insurance solution, allowing nursing professionals to manage their coverage in a way that suits their financial circumstances.
